Rosanna María Salcedo
Painting is my spiritual practice, a sacred dialogue between brush and canvas. Working with paint demands patience and presence. This slowness becomes a gift, creating space for contemplation as I push pigment across the surface, working through emotions that live too deep for words. Each stroke is both discovery and meditation, each layer a conversation with my innermost self.
My paintings emerge from this place of quiet ritual. These works are profoundly personal. They map the landscape of my interior world. As a Latina of Dominican heritage, I carry stories in my blood—tales of women who crossed oceans, who held families together, who whispered prayers in languages that taste like home.
Through paint, I reach toward my ancestors, seeking to understand the threads that connect their struggles to my dreams, their strength to my own emerging voice.
The natural world infuses my practice with its cycles of growth and transformation. I am drawn to the sacred feminine—not as ideology, but as lived experience. My paintings investigate the complexity of womanhood: its power and vulnerability, its capacity for creation, its deep connection to intuition and earth. Each canvas becomes a space where I can examine the forces that have shaped me and claim agency in defining who I am becoming.
